Godzilla is one of the all-time great movie monsters and it the titular God Monster has been portrayed in several ways over the years. The original Japanese movies are amazing, if not seriously low budget, but the completely cheese laden 1998 version was pretty bad.

When it was announced that Hollywood would be having another go at the legendary franchise in 2014 we were all sceptical. Thankfully they proved us wrong and it was a fantastic movie that was, in many ways, true to the original ethos of the creature.

Gojira Returns

Godzilla: King of the Monsters will be a sequel to the 2014 movie and if the latest trailer is anything to go by it’s going to be absolutely immense.

In the trailer, we see the awesome power of Godzilla himself and boy does he look mean. He may be a terrifying beast but let us not forget that he’s the saviour of the planet. We also see a whole host of Godzilla’s Kaiju nemesis including Mothra, Rodan and King Ghidorah. Each one looks absolutely amazing and this film looks set to be visually spectacular.

Destruction seems to be the order of the day, you can view the amazing trailer below.

Stranger Things

The plot of the movie will concern Madison, a young girl played by Millie Bobby Brown (Stranger Things) who’s kidnapped along with her mother by a mysterious organisation we presume to be Monarch. No not the airline, the mysterious corporation who hunt and experiment on God Monsters obviously.

Godzilla will face off against his enemies and humanity will essentially be ants on their battlefield.

Monarch of the Beast

As well as this awesome trailer a website has been created for Monarch that’s packed full of secret documents and company profiles.

Alongside Brown the movie will also star Charles Dance (Gosford Park, Game of Thrones), Ken Watanabe (The Last Samurai, Godzilla), Vera Farmiga (Bates Motel, The Departed), Sally Hawkins(The Shape of Water, Maudie), Kyle Chandler (Argo, Super 8) and Thomas Middleditch (Silicon Valley, The Kings of Summer) as well as a whole host of top acting talent. The movie has been directed by Michael Dougherty (Krampus, Superman Returns).

If this trailer is anything to go by then we really can’t wait for this to come out. It’s going to be big, bold and over the top, just the way we love it.

Godzilla: King of the Monsters is due for release in the UK on the 31st May 2019
