Hellboy Reboot Gets Its First Legendary Poster

Hellboy is back and looking ready for action

It was somewhat of a surprise when the new Hellboy reboot was announced. Not only did the character already have one and a half very successful movies that were loved by fans but it also seems as though Ron Perlman was just made for that role.

We had presumed it must just be another Hellboy movie but nope, it’s a complete reboot with an all-new cast.

End of an era

To be honest, we’re slightly disappointed by that. OK, so The Golden Army was disappointing but Perlman was still amazing as Hellboy and in comparison to some other movie franchises that have continued, it’s far superior.

Of course, one major issue was that Guillermo Del Toro’s output took a downward turn of sorts. He changed from his traditional, dark fantasy that we loved and moved to a lighter style that at times is more like ballet than horror.

In any case, there’s a new Hellboy coming and the first poster has been revealed.

Legendary AF, apparently

How is it? Well, it looks like Hellboy.

It certainly looks a bit meaner than Ron Perlman’s version and the effects on the poster are pretty cool.

He’s also got a flaming sword and fans of the comic will notice that he actually has his horns too.

You can view the poster below.

The reboot has an interesting cast that should make it a decent film.

David Harbour (Stranger Things, Suicide Squad) will play Hellboy and the villain will be Nimue the Blood Queen played by Milla Jovovic (The Fifth Element, Resident Evil).

Joining them will be Ian McShane (American Gods, Deadwood), Sasha Lane (American Honey, The Miseducation of Cameron Post), Daniel Dae Kim (Lost, Insurgent), Penelope Mitchell (Hemlock Grove, The Vampire Diaries) and Sophie Okonedo (Hotel Rwanda, Aeon Flux).

The movie is being directed by Neil Marshall (Dog Soldiers, The Descent), so this is a guy who knows his horror and can hopefully bring a darker tone to the film.

We are certainly interested to see the final product but will remain cautious due to our love of the first movie.

Hellboy will be released on the 12th April 2019 in the US, the UK release is yet to be announced.
