Fans of the Amazon American series Mr Robot can get ready to see Rami Malek the actor who plays Elliot Anderson in the TV series try his hand at something new.
The young actor will be playing singer Freddie Mercury in the new Mercury biopic Bohemian Rhapsody, and from the look of the trailer, this film looks set to be a big hit when it hits the cinemas later this year.
Pretty much the whole world knows that Freddie Mercury was the frontman for the awesome British rock band Queen, who sadly passed away in 1991.
The film will be set in the 1970’s and will follow the years before the formation of Queen by Freddie, Brian May, Roger Taylor and John Deacon.
It will tell the story of the beginnings of the band, up until their show-stealing performance at Live Aid in 1985 where Mercury facing a life-threatening illness, leads the band in one of the greatest performances in the history of rock music.
Ben Hardy who played Peter Beale in Eastenders will play Roger Taylor, Gwilym Lee (Midsomer Murders) will play lead guitarist Brian May and Joseph Mazzello (The Social Network) will play bass guitarist John Deacon.
The film has been written by Anthony McCarten ( The Theory of Everything) with Dexter Fletcher (Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels) as director. Fletcher took over from Bryan Singer (X-Men).
Singer was originally hired to direct the film but was fired for being absent from the production on multiple occasions and clashing with the cast and the crew. This was the reason Dexter Fletcher was brought in to complete filming and post-production.
Bohemian Rhapsody is due out in November 2018. Check out the official trailer below.
