Paranormal Investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren may be back again next year when they have another paranormal case to investigate as The Conjuring 3 is due to start filming by 2019.
Fans of The Conjuring franchise got their first taste of the supernatural horror film in 2013 when The Perron family contact demonologists Ed and Lorraine after they move into a dilapidated farmhouse in Harrisville, Rhode Island.
After moving into their new family home, the Perron’s are spooked out when paranormal events occur during the first few nights.
This is not a house you want to be living in, firstly the family notice that all of the clocks stop at exactly 3.07am, then Sadie the family dog is found dead in the back garden. Once the children start getting attacked by a spirit, the Perron’s reach out to Ed and Lorraine for help.
During their investigation, Ed and Lorraine discover that the house once belonged to an accused witch. Bathsheba sacrificed her week-old child to the devil and killed herself in 1863 after cursing all who would take her land. They also find reports of numerous murders and suicides in houses that had since been built on the property.
It’s up to Ed and Lorraine to eventually perform an exorcism to save the Perron family and lift the curse of Bathsheba.
The Conjuring received generally positive reviews and critical success, earning $318 million worldwide over a budget of $20 million, and becoming one of the most profitable horror films in history.
The Conjuring 2
Following on from the success of the film, Ed and Lorraine were back again with The Conjuring 2 in 2016. This time the paranormal investigators travel to Enfield, where they meet Peggy. Peggy is a single mother of 4 who tells Ed and Lorraine that something evil is in her home.
When Peggy’s youngest daughter starts to show signs of demonic possession, the Warrens try to help the besieged girl and end up becoming the next targets of the malicious spirit.
The second instalment of The Conjuring franchise also proved to be highly successful making both The Conjuring films the highest grossing horror films worldwide after the 1973 classic supernatural horror flick The Exorcist.
Not only that but due to its success it has opened up a brand new Conjuring Universe for horror fans with The Conjuring spinoff’s, The Nun which is currently showing in cinemas and The Crooked Man. Let’s also not forget Annabelle the large Raggedy Ann Doll who is kept in a locked cabinet at Ed and Lorraine’s museum of the paranormal items they have collected from their investigations.
So whilst fans wait to find out just what Ed and Lorraine will be facing in the Conjuring 3 (no plot has yet been released of the film), according to Cinema Blend, director Peter Safran mentioned that the plot would have to move away from the haunted house setup.
