Author Gillian Flynn’s book Sharp Objects has been adapted into a TV series that is due out on HBO in July with the first trailer for the eight-episode series now released.
From the author of Gone Girl, Sharp Objects tells the story of Camille Preaker played by Amy Adams (Arrival), a reporter who returns to the hometown she left behind to cover a series of violent murders.
The return, as well as the crimes in question, are particularly difficult for Camille who has a history of self-harm Trying to put together a psychological puzzle from her past, Camille finds herself identifying with the victims a bit too closely.
The upcoming mini-series hopes to follow in the footsteps of the 2017 massively successful HBO show Big Little Lies, with both shows being directed by Jean-Marc Vallee. Big Little Lies is currently filming its second season, with Hollywood actress Meryl Streep added to the already famous cast.
