Amazon Prime Video has a new series heading to the streaming channel later this year. The new series Dietland will air on Amazon Prime Video one day after the U.S, bringing another good series to the UK.
Dietland is based on Sarai Walker’s 2015 best-selling novel and follows Plum Kettle, a ghostwriter for the advice column of popular magazine Daisy Chain.
Struggling with self-image and fed up with how she’s treated by her boss and society, Plum sets out on a wildly complicated road to self-awakening whilst exploring a multitude of issues faced by women today. Issues such as patriarchy, misogyny, rape culture and unrealistic beauty standards.
Jay Marine, VP Prime Video Europe has said “Dietland is a riveting series – and the timing couldn’t be more relevant. We’re excited about offering our customers this brilliant series exclusively, alongside other shows that put strong women at their core, such as The Marvelous Mrs Maisel and The Bold Type.”
Dietland also start Robin Weigert from the hugely popular Big Little lies as Verena Baptist, Adam Rotherberg (Ripper Street) as NYPD detective Dominic, Tamara Tunie (Law & Order: Special Victims Unit) as Julia, Erin Drake (The Marvelous Mrs Maisel as Leeta, Rowen King (Shut Eye) as newscaster Cheryl Crane-Murphy, Will Seefried (The Deuce) as Ben and newbies Ricardo Davila as Kitty’s assistant Eladio and Tramell Tillman as Plum’s best friend Steven.
The darkly comedic new series is co-produced by Skydance Television and AMC Studios and will premiere exclusively in the UK on Prime Video on June 5, 2018.
