The Netflix series Narcos will be back soon for its fourth season in November 2018. This time around, the drug war is focused on the rise of the Mexican cartels, headed up by Diego Luna’s Miguel Angel Felix Gallardo, as he embarks on the dirty and bloody business of building an empire.
The first three seasons were set and filmed in Columbia and tracked the original cocaine king, Pablo Escobar and the successors to his Medellin cartel, Cali.
Drug kingpin Pablo Escobar played by Wagner Moura first began manufacturing cocaine in the 1970’s. His cartel supplied an estimated 80% of the cocaine smuggled into the United States at the height of his career, turning over $21.9 billion a year in personal income.
The four Cali cartel bosses were the villains in season three and their deaths and incarcerations brought the Narcos timeline up to the mid-1990’s.
This time around the fourth season will take place in Mexico and is adding two new faces to the Netflix’s drug-cartel drama. Michael Pena (American Hustle) and Diego Luna (Rouge One: A Star Wars Story) will both have leading roles in the newest season with Pena playing a new American DEA agent who finds out just how dangerous it can be to go after members of the cartel.
With the full trailer now released, it looks like this could be the biggest season of Narcos yet.
